From the desk of the Executive Director

Dear Friends,
With spring returning to the northern hemisphere, I think about the garden and longer sunny days. From the early hours of the morning, the birds form a chorus that lifts my mood. Although I have been affected by Lyme and tick-borne illness for years, I need to be outdoors and connected to the earth. I protect myself by taking precautions for my skin with sunscreen and for my health by using tick and mosquito repellents.

May is Lyme Awareness Month and there are many ways to educate and protect everyone in your family.

At the LDRC, we offer support and help clients find creative solutions for the challenges of tick borne illness. Over 700 individual contacts are received via our social media channels, email and phone each year. All services, educational programming and support are offered free of charge. We provide these services across the nation via Zoom and phone with a small staff of passionate volunteers. Our funding comes from generous individuals and private grants. During Lyme Awareness Month our goal is to raise $2000 to support our mission and programming. Many of our clients are unsure of where to find help or have found obstacles in the search for testing and treatment. A monthly gift of $5, $15 or $50 helps support our outreach efforts, virtual educational programming and local events. One time gifts online or by mail are gratefully accepted as well: “Lyme Disease Resource Center, Inc” PO Box 171, Northampton MA 01061.

I hope you find the warming weather and sunlight enjoyable. Healing from Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses can be difficult. By supporting one another and engaging with the Lyme community, we build resilience. Thank you for your continued support of the LDRC.

Warm Regards,
Maria Malaguti, Founder/Executive Director
